Additions to the agenda:
CACC- Connecting Active Communities Coalition Update
  • Blue Ash and Montgomery are connecting their leisure trails under I-71. Blue Ash Airport re-design is underway. People can view the prospective ideas on the Blue Ash website. A crosswalk is planned from Carpenter’s Run across Plainfield Road to the airport.
Old Business:
A. Lifestyle Essentials Report
  • FitFlex Passes remain an issue; classes are being cancelled with no refunds issued unless it is the only class a patron takes and no other times are offered. Otherwise people must try to sell or give their passes away.
  • The suggestion was made to survey class participants about the classes, times offered, instructors, etc.
B. Evendale Bike Master Plan update
  • Public input meeting was held on Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00pm; and seven people attended.
  • David has budgeted funds in the 2012 budget to complete Phase III.
  • Stiney and David have a meeting on the 29th with Jason Ramler from URS to prioritize project objectives and goals heading into Phase III.
  • Council has been very supportive of the Bike Master Plan.
  • David is still working with the village engineer regarding the path markings being painted on Glendale-Milford Road, west of Reading Road.
New Business:
A. Pool and fitness center management bids were opened last Thursday.
  • SwimSafe Pool Management was the only company to bid the  pool operations. The bid had a 3% first year increase compared to 2011 costs.
  • The fitness center operations had two bidders - Lifestyle Essentials and Tri-Health. Tri-Health was the lowest bidder; but David, on behalf of council, is requesting more information (staff experience, instructor qualification, certifications, etc.) just to make sure the bids are comparable.
  • Because of a modification in the 2008 RFP, over the last three years, the department has captured about $8,000.00 on the fitness class program.
  • Any comments or concerns about the process can be directed to Stiney Vonderhaar.
Director’s Report:
  • The leak in the pool water lines has been located; repairs are underway. (Update: the leak in the SCS suction line has been repaired.)
  • The 2012 Recreation Commission schedule has been revised. There will be a meeting in July instead of
  • August.
  • Pamela Meyers and Gus Janszen have agreed to return to Commission if no other residents are interested. Wayne Mosley is not returning; so the Mayor is in search of another business representative. Stiney will also discuss the opening at the next Chamber meeting. Any business person interested should contact the Mayor.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
  • Rake-n-Run service project fulfilled requests from seven homes over a two day period. Thirty kids volunteered over the course of the two day event. The teens helped one other  Evendale family by raking the yard (85 bags of leaves). The family’s dad is battling cancer.
  • The Holiday Party is on December 10th. Several members have earned discounts through various fundraisers throughout the year.
  • Entertainment Books are still on sale.
  • On Wednesday, November 23rd, the annual Welcome Home Alumni event will take place.
  • The members who worked the Haunted Trail should be very proud. They did a great job.
Open Discussion:
  • Thank you to Wayne and Alicia for your time, dedication, and years of service to the commission , department, and village.
  • Pamela told Commission that Gorman Heritage Farm recently hosted a volunteer pot luck dinner at the boy scout center. The number of farm volunteers continues to grow. Stiney told commissioners that Sandra Murphy plans to retire this coming Spring.
  • David will be attending the Athletic Business Conference in the beginning of December. At the conference, Kristen Maiden and David will also receive the 2011 NAYS Excellence in Youth Sports Award on Friday.
